RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Chi Alpha Sigma is pleased to announce a partnership with The One Love Foundation to incorporate education and leadership opportunities around the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships. Programming opportunities will be provided and encouraged for chapters and inductees of the National College Athlete Honor Society moving forward, the organization announced today.

One Love Foundation’s virtual programming will focus on a range of topics including healthy relationships, relationship abuse, bystander intervention, and consent. Through the partnership, Chi Alpha Sigma chapters will participate in live online workshops utilizing One Love’s films and discussion guides, with access to a resource library with additional videos and materials. Chapters will also have the opportunity to participate in education-based competitions, including the Yards for Yeardley campaign.

“Recognizing and promoting healthy relationships is so important for all of us in college athletics and beyond, so we are very excited to be able to bring this outstanding programming to our membership,” Chi Alpha Sigma Executive Director Kellen Wells-Mangold said. “We celebrate our student-athletes not just for what they accomplish in competition and the classroom, but for the character and leadership they display in their campus communities. We believe this partnership with One Love will be an invaluable tool of empowerment and education for these young people that they can utilize not just in college but throughout the rest of their lives.”

One Love was founded in honor of Yeardley Love, a 22-year-old college student-athlete who was killed by her ex-boyfriend. After her death, the Love family started the One Love Foundation to educate young people to see the signs and recognize the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships. The organization has educated more than 1.3 million young people to date.

“We commend Chi Alpha Sigma for their commitment to helping student-athletes experience healthy relationships and to have the tools to stand up when their teammates or others in their community are in an unhealthy relationship,” said Chief Program Officer Megan Shackleton. “We are so grateful for Chi Alpha Sigma’s partnership and the opportunity to provide this critical education to their members.”
