In a journal, reflect on the following:
When have you said no to a friend? What made it either hard or easy to do?
Teaching Points:
- Boundaries are essential to all types of relationships; boundaries help us understand what we are comfortable with. Talking to a partner or friend about what you are and are not comfortable with is part of a healthy relationship.
- We figure out our boundaries through experimenting and experiences, learning what we’re okay with and what we’re not. Setting boundaries is a process that takes practice and communication. If something makes you feel hurt, disrespected, uncomfortable, or angry, try setting a boundary next time you’re in a similar situation.
